Healing through connection to ourselves, each other, and the Earth.

Vilomah, a Sanskrit word meaning "against natural order," refers to the profound loss experienced by a parent who has lost a child or by anyone who has endured an untimely, tragic, or stigmatized death that defies life’s natural sequence. The ongoing mental health and substance use crises have led to a devastating rise in such losses, creating a growing community of individuals who feel a deep, primal sense of injustice and are driven to act. We see this as an opportunity to unite and channel our enduring love to transform society into one that is more connected, compassionate, and just.

About us

We are building a national community of individuals who have lost a loved one to a substance-related death, offering peer support, grief education, and advocacy for evidence-based drug policy reform. In addition to fostering connection and healing, we aim to provide financial assistance to bereaved families, support children affected by loss, and establish memorial gardens as spaces of remembrance and reflection. Our mission is to ensure that no family navigates this loss alone while working to create a more compassionate and effective response to substance use.

"Someday, society will fully understand the complexities of substance use and recognize that it is not a moral failing. Those who use substances will be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. The catalyst for this change will be those of us who refuse to stay silent, advocating for a more just and compassionate system. And the true heroes—the ones whose suffering went unheard, who paid the ultimate price—will be honored not only in memory but through meaningful action, ensuring their struggles were not in vain."
